Held under the banner of Unity Day, the first edition of Fashion Week brings together national and French designers.
The cultural and artistic vitality of the windy city reaches a new milestone with the launch of the first edition of Essaouira Fashion Week, organized on 6 and 7 November 2026. Scheduled to coincide with celebrations for Unity Day and the 51st anniversary of the Green March, this event brings together exceptional creators from the Kingdom and France. Backed by a major institutional partnership bringing together the Mogador Ville de la Mode association, the Institut Français, the French Embassy, and the Euro-Mediterranean Young Leaders Forum, this gathering offers a bold program. Festivities open with an inaugural runway show on Essaouira beach accompanied by traditional equestrian performances, before moving the following day to the Medina Skala—a UNESCO World Heritage site—offering a striking dialogue between contemporary design, architectural history, and the Atlantic horizon.
A showcase for textile creation and traditional know-how
On an artistic level, this event highlights the wealth of national artisanal heritage and the energy of young designers. National brand Anouri Original stands out in particular for a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional carpets integrated into modern haute couture pieces, while committed houses such as Maison Mayad, Timendotes, and the Kalhath Foundation highlight the meticulous work of master artisans. This creative dialogue with international signatures, such as French designer Louise Marcaud, bears witness to local textile actors’ capacity to revisit cultural heritage while meeting the eco-responsible standards of global fashion. By bringing these universes together on the city’s ramparts, the event affirms the country’s standing as an essential crossroads for lifestyle and design.
Youth employment, training, and regional economic spillovers
Beyond the event aspect, Essaouira Fashion Week sets itself a structural mission regarding professional integration and regional development. According to guidelines set by production leadership, the goal lies in building concrete bridges between renowned stylists and young regional talents through mentorship programs, training workshops, and professional immersion. This momentum strengthens the province’s tourism appeal during peak cultural season, generating direct returns for hospitality, dining, and media professions. In aiming to position the city among the African continent’s creative hubs, this initiative supports the emergence of a genuine fashion economy driving skilled job creation for local youth.
